Ecological approach unusual accommodation in Indre et Loire
In the heart of southern Touraine, we fell in love with this green setting and decided to set up our unusual accommodation here in 2013. Here you can enjoy peace and quiet, a change of scenery and a return to nature... Since we set up our business, we have placed great importance on respect for the environment, and we strive to minimise our environmental impact. We want to continue and promote these simple gestures and involve you in our action.
By optimising water management:
Water : we use mains water for the accommodation and then water from the well and rain to water the plantations. Let's not waste this increasingly scarce commodity. Please report any water leaks to us.
Waste water : we have installed a micro-phyto treatment plant using planted filters. To minimise disruption to the water chain, we do not discharge any chemical or medicinal products into the bathroom and WC facilities. Nappies, sanitary towels and tampons, condoms, cotton buds.... will be disposed of in the rubbish bin.
Managing energy consumption:
Energy : the accommodation has been built with double walls for good thermal insulation; some of our electricity comes from renewable energy sources (Led light bulbs). When you open the windows, remember to turn off the heating. When you leave your accommodation, don't forget to turn off the lights.
Protecting the environment:
Laundry : if you stay several days at the Domaine, your sheets and towels will be changed on request, otherwise on your departure.
Products : we use eco-labelled cleaning and hygiene products both in the accommodation and in the kitchen.
Management of natural areas: preserving areas in their natural state to maintain the richness of our local biodiversity. Preserving and welcoming biodiversity is a priority in our ecological approach.
To maintain our green spaces, we use only natural weedkillers and have introduced eco-pasturing! Thank you to the sheep and to Cannelle and Amandine, the donkeys.
When pruning trees, we use a shredder to recycle the plant pruning waste, which is then used as ecological mulch for our paths.
Waste sorting: waste sorting is located under the lime tree in front of the entrance gate: household waste, plastic/cardboard, glass, compost. A box for used batteries is available at reception.
If you don't sort them yourself, we will. We invite you to get involved, so that new generations can follow in our footsteps :)
What's more, inside the henhouse, the chickens will feast on your leftover bread, pastries, etc.
Back to nature: we haven't installed television or WiFi in the accommodation so that you can listen to the different birds singing, the river lapping, the sheep bawling...
